How can I check my PF balance?

If you are a PF holder, go to EPFO digital platform to check EPFO member balance. This digital platform allows employees across the country to withdraw and track their PF balance. EPFO members need a user ID and password for EPFO member balance enquiry.


How to check PF balance?


EPFO login for employees is available on EPFO member portal. PF members must have a 12-digit UAN (Universal Account Number) to log on to the EPFO member balance portal. This unique number is found on payslips of employees.

Only one UAN number is allotted to members in their lifetime. Individuals who have been allotted the UAN number can activate their account on the EPF member portal.

Your UAN number must be activated to check EPFO member balance.


How to Check EPF Balance


Now PF holders can check their EPF status anytime without waiting for their employer to provide the details at the end of the year. EPF balance facility is available 24X7. Members can also check EPFO member balance through offline methods as well.

Online methods for EPF balance enquiry are:

  • EPF Portal

  • Umang mobile app

Offline methods include:

  • SMS

  • Missed call service


How to Check the EPF Balance Online?

1. EPF balance check on the EPF Portal


Log into the EPF account to check your PF balance. You can visit the official website of the EPFO or Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) and take the following steps.

2. Go to ‘Our Service’ section and select “For Employees” option from the drop-down menu

4. You will be redirected to https://bit.ly/3a14Nt3

5. Click on ‘For Employees’ once again

6. Select Member Passbook from the service menu.

7. You will reach the login page for your passbook.

Or

PF members can directly click on this link. You will be directed to the login page of your member's passbook.

  1. Use UAN and password to sign in.

  2. Now you will receive the Member IDs of all the EPF linked accounts with your UAN; it’s one employee one EPF.

  3. Click on the member ID of the EPF account you want to view the member passbook for.

  4. You will see the passbook on the screen.

Keep the following points in mind while checking the EPF balance online:

  • You can access this section of the EPFO portal only after you have an activated UAN number and you are registered on the UAN Member section.

  • When you make changes, the information will reflect within 6 hours of the modification.

  • The passbook keeps the account of the latest entries reconciled by the EPFO field offices.

  • Exempted members and someone with inappropriate account shall not be able to view see the passbook on the EPFO website. If you have not contributed towards your EPF account in the last three years or so on, your account will become inoperative.

2. Umang App


EPFO has also introduced the Umang App which is a single-click way to access all EPFO account related information.

  • Install the Umang App from the Google Play Store or App Store.

  • You can use the Umang app on the go to access the EPFO account.

  • EPF members can use the app to check their balance and download the passbook.

How to check EPF balance using the Umang App?


  1. Now open the app and select EPFO.

  2. Click on the Employee Centric Services

  3. Click on the ‘View Passbook’ to view the EPF balance here.

  4. Type your UAN ID and then click on the Get OTP. You will receive an OTP on your registered mobile number.

  5. Type the OTP and click on the login.

  6. Select the member ID of your company for which you want to view the EPF balance

  7. Now you can see the complete information on your mobile screen.

How to Check the EPF Balance Offline?


  1. Get your EPF balance via SMS

  • Send the EPFOHO UAN ENG to 7738299899 using your registered mobile number

  • For example, your UAN is 123456789202, the message should be EPFOHO 123456789202ENG

  • For Hindi, use HIN instead of ENG

  1. Get the balance through missed call

Give a missed call on 011-22901406 from your registered mobile number to access the EPFO member balance.
